Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer Appreciation Event Earlier this year, Dewey and I volunteered for The Canadian Cancer Society by selling daffodils pin during the Daffodils month in April. It was a great and fun experience. Few months later, we’ve received an email invite to the Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer Appreciation Event. Without hesitation, we emailed them back and asked them if they would need photographers for the event as we would gladly volunteer our time once again. The event highlights all the efforts from the volunteers and the difference they’ve made towards the fight against cancer. Awards and prizes were delivered to the guests who have devoted their time to the society for many years. Dewey and I have both lost loved ones to cancer. Being able to help out and support a cause that is so dear to our heart is a fulfilling accomplishment. Here are a few pictures of the event. The Shoe Box Project 2015 The Shoe Box Project is an amazing charity that collects and distributes gifts in the form of shoeboxes to women in shelters. Each shoebox is filled with items valued at $50 that a woman would enjoy but would not splurge on for herself in difficult times. These shoeboxes brighten the holiday season and let the women know they are special and not forgotten. Each box contains different female-friendly items such as beauty and personal hygiene products, specialty teas, mitts, socks, perfume, chocolate and gift cards. Founded in 2011 by four sisters-in-law: Caroline Mulroney Lapham and Jessica, Vanessa and Katy Mulroney, the charity initiative now runs in many cities across Canada and the US, including Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and Halifax. Last year, thanks to the generosity of countless people in December 2014, they delivered gifts to over 17,000 women using 270 shelters and outreach programs in 72 communities! They also collect and deliver hundreds of shoeboxes in honour of other occasions such as Mother’s Day and Nelson Mandela Day. The following pictures were taken at a wrapping party, where donations and sponsorship from corporation are all gathered and ready to be boxed and wrapped up. Tri […]
Kathy & Victor | Toronto Wedding Family and friends from Poland and Ecuador came all the way to Toronto to celebrate the union of Kathy & Victor. Even the rain couldn’t stop all the warm and joyful spirit of this happy bunch. As soon as we walked in the door, the bride insisted to show us all the outfits made by her cousin. All the girls wanted to be a bridesmaid after seeing the beautiful blush pink dresses. Kathy told us that her cousin flew in town from Poland a few days prior. Her cousin made all her bridesmaid’s dresses, her mother’s stunning outfit and altered her beautiful wedding dress. Self-proclaimed shoe-addict, Kathy was also very excited to wear her brand new Christian Louboutin shoes (who wouldn’t) for this special day. But what we loved the most, was the breathtaking work from her hairstylist, who integrated beautiful flowers to her updo. Congratulation again to Kathy & Victor! Feed Tomorrow 2015 On October 21st, I joined the Toronto Foundation For Student Success (TFSS) again this year to celebrate their 11th annual Feed Tomorrow week. The day started early at St. Lawrence Market in downtown Toronto, where a large cheque of $545,000 donated from the Breakfast Clubs of Canada was presented to the TFSS program. We then all hopped on the School Bus Tour that took us to Ryerson Community School, First Nations School of Toronto and Dundas Junior Public School to show us the nutritional program in each establishment. We met with community volunteers and children, and learn first-hand about the need these programs address. Feed Tomorrow week is here to raise awareness and collect pledges to help feed Toronto’s students, address issues of poverty, hunger, poor nutrition and their effect on kid’s education and growth. With the support from Toronto City Council, hundreds of volunteers, supporters and very generous sponsors, Feed Tomorrow week is the largest awareness campaign of its kind for student hunger and nutrition programs. The TFSS supports 160,000 nutritious meals every school day. These meals are provided through over 700 Student Nutrition Programs, primary school-based, where students eat a healthy breakfast, lunch or a […]
Quyen & Toan | Montreal wedding Whenever we have a couple who wants to book us for a Montreal wedding, we get really excited. Montreal is always a dear place to our heart as we both grew up there and getting to take pictures of our bride and groom in our beautiful hometown feels very special to us. After the great Engagement Session with this couple in Toronto, we know that we were going to have a lot of fun on their wedding day. Thank you Quyen & Toan for being brave enough to conquer the cold Montreal weather, allowing us to capture these beautiful pictures. The Toronto Foundation For Student Success (TFSS) celebrated their 10th annual Feed Tomorrow week and I was proudly covering the School Bus Tour + Reception event on October the 9th, at the St. Lawrence Market in downtown Toronto. With the support of a declaration from Toronto City Council, as well as hundreds of volunteers and very generous sponsors, Feed Tomorrow week is the largest awareness campaign of its kind for student hunger and nutrition programs. The TFSS supports 160,000 nutritious meals every school day. These meals are provided through over 700 Student Nutrition Programs, primary school-based, where students eat a healthy breakfast, lunch or a snack. School Bus Tour + Reception – Nutrition Program donors, politicians, and people passionate about food spent a morning traveling ‘student style’ to two schools where they saw breakfast programs in action! Following the tour, guests arrived at a reception hosted by the St. Lawrence Market store owners and then joined in on a Sushi Making for the Soul workshop led by food literacy advocate, writer, and restaurateur, Sang Kim and beyond 3:30 students. Here are few pictures of this very special day. To learn more about the Feed Tomorrow program or to donate, please […]
Dewey and I drove up to Montreal to attend the album launch concert from my good old friend Sebastien Legault’s band, Appalaches at the L’Hémisphère Gauche bar. Appalaches is a post-rock band from Montreal with 4 members who have enough energy to shake the whole block down. “Mòn” is the band’s very first album; a precious melodious and strong album that you will quickly fall in love with, packaged in a beautiful album designed by Sebastien himself. Did I forget to mention that Sebastien is also a renowned creative director/graphic designer too? (please see link below for his work). Yes, all of the nice designs for the band is from him. Appalaches warned us all that they will play loud and they surely delivered! Great show, awesome music, high energy and lovely crowd. Congrats Appalaches for a successful launch!
