Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer Appreciation Event Earlier this year, Dewey and I volunteered for The Canadian Cancer Society by selling daffodils pin during the Daffodils month in April. It was a great and fun experience. Few months later, we’ve received an email invite to the Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer Appreciation Event. Without hesitation, we emailed them back and asked them if they would need photographers for the event as we would gladly volunteer our time once again. The event highlights all the efforts from the volunteers and the difference they’ve made towards the fight against cancer. Awards and prizes were delivered to the guests who have devoted their time to the society for many years. Dewey and I have both lost loved ones to cancer. Being able to help out and support a cause that is so dear to our heart is a fulfilling accomplishment. Here are a few pictures of the event. The Shoe Box Project 2015 The Shoe Box Project is an amazing charity that collects and distributes gifts in the form of shoeboxes to women in shelters. Each shoebox is filled with items valued at $50 that a woman would enjoy but would not splurge on for herself in difficult times. These shoeboxes brighten the holiday season and let the women know they are special and not forgotten. Each box contains different female-friendly items such as beauty and personal hygiene products, specialty teas, mitts, socks, perfume, chocolate and gift cards. Founded in 2011 by four sisters-in-law: Caroline Mulroney Lapham and Jessica, Vanessa and Katy Mulroney, the charity initiative now runs in many cities across Canada and the US, including Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and Halifax. Last year, thanks to the generosity of countless people in December 2014, they delivered gifts to over 17,000 women using 270 shelters and outreach programs in 72 communities! They also collect and deliver hundreds of shoeboxes in honour of other occasions such as Mother’s Day and Nelson Mandela Day. The following pictures were taken at a wrapping party, where donations and sponsorship from corporation are all gathered and ready to be boxed and wrapped up. Tri […]
The Toronto Foundation For Student Success (TFSS) celebrated their 10th annual Feed Tomorrow week and I was proudly covering the School Bus Tour + Reception event on October the 9th, at the St. Lawrence Market in downtown Toronto. With the support of a declaration from Toronto City Council, as well as hundreds of volunteers and very generous sponsors, Feed Tomorrow week is the largest awareness campaign of its kind for student hunger and nutrition programs. The TFSS supports 160,000 nutritious meals every school day. These meals are provided through over 700 Student Nutrition Programs, primary school-based, where students eat a healthy breakfast, lunch or a snack. School Bus Tour + Reception – Nutrition Program donors, politicians, and people passionate about food spent a morning traveling ‘student style’ to two schools where they saw breakfast programs in action! Following the tour, guests arrived at a reception hosted by the St. Lawrence Market store owners and then joined in on a Sushi Making for the Soul workshop led by food literacy advocate, writer, and restaurateur, Sang Kim and beyond 3:30 students. Here are few pictures of this very special day. To learn more about the Feed Tomorrow program or to donate, please […]
